ES + Duration
- In order to calculate Early Finish, we use forward pass. Means moving from Early Start towards right to come up with Early Finish of the project. Early Finish (EF) = ES + Duration If Early Start is 6 days and duration is 10 days, EF = 6 + 10 = 16 Days

Forward Pass. The first step in the calculation process is known as the Forward Pass. In the forward pass, the Early Start and Early Finish values for each activity, along with the overall Project Duration, are calculated. To facilitate schedule calculations, an “end of day” notation is used for both the Early Start and the Late Start values.
Forward Pass: Assuming the early start time (ES) of the first activity is 0, then its EF = ES + t 1. The ES of the second activity in the network can be set to the EF of its predecessor, as there is only one preceding activity.
Sep 16, 2022 · The Precedence Diagram (AON diagram) shows activity relationships and is an important communication tool for stakeholders. The precedence diagram is made of rectangles known as nodes. These boxes show the project activities. An arrow connects two boxes and shows the relationship.

Forward pass is a technique to move forward through network diagram to determining project duration and finding the critical path or Free Float of the project. Whereas backward pass represents moving backward to the end result to calculate late start or to find if there is any slack in the activity.
Find the one with the greatest EF (it’s 11), and then put that value as the LF for all terminal activities, then proceed with the backward pass. Quick note: If you draw your network diagram starting with a zero like I do, then you should also draw your Gantt chart starting with a zero.
