Jun 1, 2020 · What is a Horizon Line? The horizon line in photography is the line where the sky separates from land or water. The horizon line tends to be the actual height of the viewer’s eyes when looking at an object, interior, or an exterior.
As you move from one image to the next, something intriguing catches your eye: the presence of horizontal lines in many of the images, which lead your eye from one side of the frame to the other and give each composition a stretched, even languid feel.
- Use the Crop Tool Effectively. The easiest way to straighten your horizon line is with the crop tool. Virtually every photo editing software package in existence has a crop tool, so it should be familiar to you.
- Avoid Distortion. Sometimes your picture will appear crooked even when it’s level. That’s because most lenses have at least some barrel distortion, which makes the horizon line sag toward the sides of the picture.
