The film is dated in parts but all in all it holds up quite well. And Kirk Douglas gives a good performance as an over the hill thief wanting to pull one last score. All in all, The Master Touch is not bad way to spend an afternoon. Ciao, ciao, baby. 27 out of 31 found this helpful.

Not to mention the fact that Ennio Morricone composed a superb score for the movie. I consider the 11 minute version of The Master Touch score to be one of his best works, along with the themes for The Big Gundown, The Hellbenders, John Carpenter's The Thing and a song called "The Ecstasy of Gold" (from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly).
The Master Touch was his only Euro-crime thriller. True to form it is a classier production for this genre with cinematography by the great Tonino Delli Colli and a sparse but foreboding soundtrack by maestro Ennio Morricone. It is no surprise Kirk Douglas was drawn to the role of master safe-cracker Steve Wallace.
