Realize how important it is to think it through carefully and to understand that the other person's feelings are very different than yours.

    Decide whether you want to a) hurt the other person a lot, or b) cause them minimal pain.

    Usually, we prefer not to hurt other people's feelings.

    So it is better to be genuinely honest with them.
