  1. Lillie Hayward (born Lillian Olenda Auen, September 12, 1891 – June 29, 1977) was an American screenwriter whose Hollywood career began during the silent era and continued well into the age of television.

  2. Lillie traveled to Hollywood the next year, and eventually married cameraman Duke Hayward. By 1918, however, he had trouble finding work, and with a young daughter to support, Lillie took a job as a script editor at her sister Seena's studio. In 1924 she sold her first script, Janice Meredith (1924), an adaptation of the novel of the same name.
