In anticipation of the modest “New York City premiere” of Taking Tiger Mountain—from a cropped, vintage video transfer of a film for which only three prints were ever struck—Huckabee spoke with Screen Slate about the weird trip of the coolest film no one’s ever seen.
May 20, 2020 · Huckabee and Paxton became friends. In 1974, they pooled their money and bought a Super 8 movie camera with sound. Their movies were bold, avante garde, and often abrasive. Many involved Paxton doing dangerous stunts while Huckabee filmed. They worked guerrilla style without permits and sometimes ran afoul of local police and city officials.
Recently, he directed the documentary short "Confessions of an Ecstasy Advocate," story-edited Ghostbreakers, a 20-part syndicated TV series starring Joey Greco, set to debut in 2016 on The Family Channel, co produced The Starck Club, a documentary feature and The Price, a drama starring Randy Travis and James Dupre.

Tom Huckabee is a writer, director, producer with over 40 years experience in entertainment. As a student at UT Austin he studied under Tom Schatz, Loren Bivens, and Edward Dymytryk, directed "The Death of Jim Morrison," nominated for a student academy award, and "Taking Tiger Mountain," starring Bill Paxton and co-written by William S. Burroughs.
