Banin is studying the chemistry and physics of nanocrystals and is best known for inventing new types of semiconductor and hybrid semiconductor-metal nanocrystals, and for his studies on their unique chemical and physical properties with relevance for applications in nanotechnology in the fields of displays, photocatalysis and biology.
Prof. Uri Banin is a full professor in the Institute of Chemistry, and the incumbent of the Alfred & Erica Larisch Memorial Chair. He holds a double major B.Sc. degree in Chemistry and Physics, and received his PhD in Chemistry in 1994, all from the Hebrew University.

Uri Banin (Hebrew: אורי בנין) is an Israeli nanotechnologist and physical chemist and a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, currently holding the Alfred & Erica Larisch Memorial Chair at the Institute of Chemistry.
