Factual errors
1. Vera said "shotgun" wound. Other characters agreed and then dialog segued to talk about a rifle, no one in the early scene would confuse the two. Not an error. The word 'shotgun' and 'rifle' are used intermittently throughout the show. Plus, it's completely within Vera's character to mix up the two, as she never remembers Joes kids names. 2. There are no red deer indigenous to Northumberland. The roe deer is much smaller.
Incorrectly regarded as goofs
1. When Vera interviews the kids, it's raining pretty good. Next scene, ground is essentially dry. Not necessarily. The next scene doesn't automatically mean three seconds later.
DCI Vera Stanhope and DS Joe Ashworth investigate the murder of Shane Thurgood who was killed at close range from a shot from a high-powered rifle. Thurgood was born and raised in the area but had only recently returned after the death of his grandfather to settle matters related to the estate.
