Viola Desmond is a new school in north Ajax that opened in September 2018. The school is a very innovative and spacious design with 3 common student areas, joining classrooms and a large learning commons that includes a Makerspace.
Viola Desmond Public School is an innovative learning community. Our learning community empowers students, educators, staff, parents and our neighbourhood. As a learning community, we are guided by 6 principles that we established together.

Our staff is committed to honouring the experiences of Canadian civil rights activist, Viola Desmond and recognizing her important role in standing up to racial segregation and discrimination. Like Viola Desmond, our school promotes high expectations, respect, equity and inclusion for all.
Viola Desmond Public School is a dual track elementary school named after after Canadian civil rights activist Viola Desmond and is located in the City of Vaughan at the intersection of Farrell Road and Via Romano Boulevard. It opened in the fall of 2019.
