There’s a lot of good commentary about Jupe’s fate being linked to him profiting off the exploitation of Gordy & Jean Jacket, but I think Mary Jo is just as bad, if not worse. Unlike Jupe, she was actually a victim of Gordy as a child & was horrifically disfigured.
While watching the movie Nope, I felt that they could have better illustrated who exactly Mary Jo Elliot was. At my first watch, I thought Mary was supposed to be the mom's actress because she has black hair and similar features.
