Joe Pera started as a standup comedian but his persona that he created has unintentionally veered out of the comedy realm and more into some pleasant ASMR type thing that people enjoy. You will never hear people talking about Norm or Bill Burr jokes and then have someone go "Oh, Joe Pera has this one great joke about airports", because he isn't a comedian.

It focuses on the small, intricate pleasures of life, like going to the diner on a Sunday, or discovering an old song for the first time, or growing a bean arch.

To me, it's been about being turned into a different person from what you're going through (loss, depression, grief, mental illness, etc.) and finding a way to make do with that.
