Elton John's original version of Madman Across the Water was a much more rocking (no strings) and longer version with Mick Ronson on guitar clocking in at nearly 9 minutes. It was changed out with the softer and shorter strings version as it was deemed to go better with the other tracks on the album.
John is one of our true, great, although somewhat under-appreciated American songwriters. He is a living link to the early days of rock and roll, as so many of CCR's songs were exact covers of rockabilly, blues and country songs, and many of their originals were heavily influenced by the rockabilly, country, R&B and blues artists that he and the band members listened to as they were growing up.

Oct 8, 2014 · Ah, yes, the Kris Derrig '59 Burst replica. Funny how people don't get their panties in a twist over that one, considering Gibson made loads and loads of money off making replicas of that replica and Slash popularizing the Les Paul again through that guitar pretty much saved Gibson.

606. Jan 21, 2014. #1. I have an opportunity to pick up one of the Custom Shop's 2008 run of 300 John Lennon Les Paul Junior models - there were only 300 made. It's a single cut with an ABR-1, a P90 in the bridge and a Charlie Christian pup in the neck. . . which I think is so very cool (but sometimes maddeningly noisy!).
