  2. A BSc is a Bachelors degree. A MSci is an undergraduate Masters degree, meaning in a sense it's equivalent to a MSc (a postgraduate Masters degree) though you're guaranteed government funding. Personally I would always opt for the MSci as you can change in your second year as to whether or not you want to continue with the MSci or transfer to ...

  3. An MSci is gained by completing a fourth year of your undergraduate studies, and is obviously advantageous in terms of employability. In industry, little distinction is placed between MSc and MSci, but if you are intending to go into academic research then MSc is usually the preferred option as it is more heavily research-based and taught ...

  4. A. EierVonSatan. MSci = Master in Science. MSc = Master of Science. It is a masters degree, just an undergraduate one and it's a very common way for people to get onto PhDs. Reply 11. 13 years ago. A. kerily.

An MSc is more highly considered by employers, possibly because they are specialised where as your final year of an MSci course is general like the other 3 years, just more advanced material. Only if the MSc gives you specific skills that a particular employer is looking for. In most areas of scientific employment ...

  8. Feb 18, 2022 · 15. I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons of completing a BSc and MSc separately, or an MSci degree. So far, to my understanding, I have -. Pros: • Fees capped at undergraduate rate (£9,000 - £9,250 maximum as opposed to £10,000 - £20,000+). • Less competitive application process than MSc.

  9. An MSCi is not equivalent to an MSc, as the former is a level 6.5, latter is a 7 and a Bsc is a 6. I have heard of individuals going back home from university in the UK to Asia (mainly) and being rejected from Masters level positions solely because the employer does not believe a level 6.5 education counts as a masters (7).

  11. A. Smack Volunteer Team. An engineering degree will be titled MEng; MSci is not an engineering degree. And neither the MEng or MSci are post graduate degrees (you might be aware of this already, but just saying, as you've posted this in the postgraduate forum). 13 years ago.
