Jan 28, 2022 · Do you understand how an equalizer works? We explore the history, designs, and function of equalization and help you understand what it can do for you.
Feb 2, 2024 · Understanding how to interpret measurements from an RTA is crucial to making an audio system sound accurate. A drawback of many parametric equalizers is that they are often limited in the number of adjustment bands they offer. Some processors have eight, 10 or 15 bands of parametric equalization.
Feb 18, 2024 · First, we will explore how to use an equalizer to sculpt the sound of individual instruments within a mix. We will provide hands-on exercises to demonstrate how to identify and address frequency clashes and how to use EQ to bring out the best in each instrument.
May 4, 2022 · Let's start with one of the most important terms when dealing with EQ settings: Frequency. Frequency represents the number of cycles (or sonic vibrations) per second, and is measured in Hertz...

An equaliser is a processor which is designed to deliberately alter the tonal quality of audio passing through it. It does this by using a number of filter circuits, which are capable of applying gain to audio signals within specific frequency ranges — both positive gain, referred to a 'boost', and negative gain, referred to as 'cut'.
This invaluable tool is used to correct imbalances in recordings, shape the character of instruments, and create a harmonious blend of sounds in a mix. Equalizers function by manipulating the amplitude of specific frequency ranges within an audio signal.
