Bedford–Stuyvesant (/ ˈ b ɛ d f ər d ˈ s t aɪ v ə s ən t /), colloquially known as Bed–Stuy, is a neighborhood in the northern section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn.

Deserving but not Designated: Bedford. The architectural splendor of this remarkable Brooklyn neighborhood speaks for itself. It is one of New York City’s richest collections of 19 th -century rowhouses, punctuated with handsome small apartment buildings and drop-dead gorgeous institutional structures.
The Bedford Stuyvesant Historic District is well worth a visit. It is an opportunity, as much as possible now, to see how Nineteenth Century neighborhoods in New York actually appeared. The large entry staircases, most of which appear to be originally, are outstanding recants of the past.
