Dead Silence is a solid horror film and a look into the early works of James Wan and Leigh Whannell. And while it might have become a bit dated along the way, it is still a brilliant horror...
But it's still a well-made and creepy movie for several reasons: The atmosphere is perfect in this. Wan is a great visual director and he makes everything in this film seem grey and grim, like a cemetery chill hanging over everything.
Parents need to know that this horror movie shows grotesque image of corpses with mouths open and tongues torn out. The violence is shown in quick, nightmarish flashes (it's a ghostly curse doing it, after all, not human handiwork), and is very intense.
