Gordonstoun School (/ ˈ ɡ ɔːr d ən s t ən / GOR-dən-stən) is a co-educational independent school for boarding and day pupils in Moray, Scotland. It is named after the 150-acre (60-hectare) estate owned by Sir Robert Gordon in the 17th century; the school now uses this estate as its campus.
Gordonstoun is one of the UK’s top independent schools for boarding and day pupils aged 4 ½ to 18. Our school was voted the best boarding school in the UK in 2021 and described as 'outstanding' and 'sector-leading' in its most recent inspection.
The physical heart of the school is Gordonstoun House which is our administrative hub and a boarding house for senior boys. There are seven other boarding houses for students aged between 13 and 18 - three for girls and four for boys – plus the Junior School.

Gordonstoun is also the birthplace of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, the Outward Bound movement, and was one of the first boarding schools to admit girls alongside boys. The school then had some of the first female firefighters in the UK.
