The lowest point is sea level. Along with adjacent Middlesex and Ocean counties, Monmouth County is a mecca for boating and fishing.

- Explore Allaire State Park. Go hiking, biking, or horseback riding on the park’s trails, and visit the historic village within the park.
- Tour a historic lighthouse. Monmouth County is home to three beautiful lighthouses that each offer tours: 1) The Sandy Hook Lighthouse, 2) The Twin Lights in the Highlands, and 3) The Sea Girt Lighthouse.
- Spend a day in Asbury Park. A more specific outing at one of Monmouth County’s Beaches includes a day exploring Asbury Park! Enjoy live music, unique shops, and delicious food along this vibrant boardwalk, as well as the main downtown.
- Have some Jersey Shore fun. From Keansburg down to Manasquan and everything in between (Asbury Park Avon, Belmar, Spring Lake, etc.) there are beautiful, clean, safe beaches where the kids can swim, surf, fish, crab or lay around all day.
- Go downtown. Downtown areas such as the expansive Red Bank or the quainter Freehold Borough where you can walk around, shop and eat. Plus, their business chambers hold festivals throughout the warmer months.
- Act out. Whether you enjoy concerts, plays, operas or one-man shows, there are a variety of theaters that offer great performances for everyone in the family, such as Count Basie Center for the Arts and Two River Theater in Red Bank, Holmdel Theatre Company, Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal, NJ Repertory Company in Long Branch and Center Players in Freehold.
- Park it. Thompson Park in Middletown, Holmdel Park and Longsteet Park in Holmdel and Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold all have gorgeous grounds where you can walk, hike, camp and celebrate nature.
The closest is in Middlesex County, Metropark-Iselin, which is about a half-hour to an hours drive from Monmouth County. If you are visiting the southwestern part of the county, it is most convenient for you to use the Trenton station in Mercer County.
