Regarded as one of Agatha Christie’s greatest achievements, Murder on the Orient Express was first published as a novel in 1934. The very first publication of the story was in a six-instalment serialisation in the Saturday Evening Post in 1933 in the US, under the title, Murder on the Calais Coach.
Murder on the Orient Express was released theatrically in the UK on 24 November 1974. The film was a success at the box office, given its tight budget of $1.4 million, [9] earning $36 million in North America, [9] [10] making it the 11th highest-grossing film of 1974 .
