Just months after the project began in earnest, the latest news comes as a major A Simple Favor 2 filming update from director Paul Feig. The accomplished comedy hit-maker spoke candidly about the production of the upcoming sequel and revealed that, as of late-May 2024, A Simple Favor 2 was nearly wrapped. In an era of protracted production timelines, the quick turnaround for the highly-anticipated follow-up is quite promising, though a release date is still elusive.
The Sequel Was Announced In 2022
Despite delays, A Simple Favor 2 has been in the works since 2022, when the sequel was officially announced with Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively already attached. It would be nearly a year before any more news surfaced, and a filming start date was announced in February 2023. That plan would prove to be vexed by the industry-wide Hollywood strikes of 2023, and another year would pass before more announcements came.
No Release Date Has Been Announced
As was previously announced, A Simple Favor 2 went into production in spring 2024, and the filming process was rather short. In late-May 2024, director Paul Feig announced that filming for the sequel was nearly completed meaning it only took a few months. However, no released date for A Simple Favor 2 has been announced and it's unclear exactly when the sequel will be put on the calendar.
The Original Cast Is Returning
When the project was first announced in 2022, it was already confirmed that Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively would return to reprise their roles of Stephanie and Emily, respectively.
