Hagerstown was the center of the Western Maryland Railway and an important city on the Pennsylvania , Norfolk and Western , Baltimore and Ohio , and Hagerstown and Frederick Railroads.
I thought it was called Hub City because the smaller towns around it resemble a hub cap. At least, that’s what I’ve been told my whole life.
