Indeed, Disney lost the rights to the independently financed original film, with them now only owning the rights to the Searchlight-financed sequel, 28 Weeks Later .
It seems wild that movies like The Abyss, The Wall or 28 Days Later would be unavailable to stream in this day and age. I feel like I've seen all of these movies on major providers within the past couple years (28 DL in the past couple months).
