Oak Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, adjacent to Chicago. It is the 26th-most populous municipality in Illinois, with a population of 54,318 as of the 2020 census. Oak Park was first settled in 1835 and later incorporated in 1902, when it separated from Cicero.
- Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio. In 1888, at 22 years old, Wright borrowed $5,000 from his boss Louis Sullivan to build a home for his family. This was first completed in 1889, but one of the exciting things about the property is that as Wright’s ideas developed, so did his home.
- Unity Temple. Wright came from a Unitarian family, so when Oak Park’s Unity Church was destroyed by fire after a lightning strike in 1905 he put his hat in the ring to design the replacement.
