Until, till, and 'til are all used in modern English to indicate the time when a particular situation, period, etc. ends, or when something will happen, become true, etc. Until and till are both standard, but, perhaps surprising, till is the older word.
If something happens till something else happens, the first thing happens before the other thing and stops when the other thing happens.
The noun till means the same as "cash register." When you work at the store long enough, they'll let you operate the till. When you pay taxes to your town, they go into the local till, or government fund, for community improvements.
