Feb 10, 2021 · There is an artist in residence, a termly newsletter with all art exhibitions in London, an Art magazine etc. Dozens of plays every year, a dance show (which the girls themselves choreograph and direct), concerts, jazz bands, R&B band. This is not a school where academics is the sole focus.
Jan 26, 2020 · Either they will change or they won't be around for much longer. They don't have fifteen pupils in each class, at least not most of them. They have around 20-25 pupils in each teaching set up to and including GCSE (smaller in less popular subjects eg French almost certainly 20+, Russian more likely to be 10 or 15).
Jan 29, 2015 · There are girls who make it through thanks to a tutor and they do struggle. Equally, you can dismiss the idea that prep schools over prepare the kids. If that was the case, they'd all be at spgs but they are not. We live in West London and so we know classmates and friends' children at virtually every school here.
Feb 11, 2023 · @MrsRickAstley St Paul’s Girls’ School. A private girls school in London, 11+ exam results came out yesterday. OP, happy for you to pm me, I have two dds there, from a state primary, and they do commute as we’re not local. I really like fishywater’s post on this thread as a description of a child who will thrive at SPGS, it fits my ...
Feb 26, 2019 · Zinnia · 26/02/2019 09:56. Have friends who chose Latymer over St Paul's for their 3 DSs, are extremely happy and boys are on track for Ivy League & Oxbridge (phenomenally bright family!). Their sons are polite, engaged, well-adjusted, but otherwise (!) normal teenage boys. The parents are very happy with their choice.
Jul 30, 2015 · SPGS is the most expensive girls' school in London so even if you got say a 50% bursary you'd still have to fund a hefty chunk. Before you even talk about the possibility of going to your dd you should have a chat with the bursar at St Paul's and ask them what kind of support would be likely or possible with your level of income.
Dec 27, 2022 · Oh I should clarify - I am a mum of a pupil who has gone to the school for six years. All I can say is my daughter’s personal experience - there seems to be perhaps an unusually high level of unhappiness and stress at this school (at least amongst her cohort of 120 or so girls).
Jul 11, 2015 · I have been looking at the history of different girls secondary schools in the London area. Having opened its doors in 1904, St Paul's Girls' School is younger than some of its private school counterparts, such as Lady Eleanor Holles (1711), James Allen's Girls' (1842), North London Collegiate (1850), Haberdashers' Aske's Girls (1875), South ...
Jan 10, 2024 · Totally agree with @MrsEverdeen, remember as THE most selective girls' school in the UK SPGS will inevitably have the most sparkling results, but down the line you realise children will succeed whatever (good) secondary school they attend, those who end up at the W London schools people sneer at still end up at fabulous universities. I never looked at SPGS because i dislike single-sex ...
Apr 14, 2016 · mary21 · 14/04/2016 16:49. Depends where you live. Bute house has a reputation for prepping for St Paul's girls. Newton Prep will prep for all. Do you want girls or mixed. Latymer also has its own prep. All those schools will also have quite a few from state schools but usually tutoring is recommended from year 5. Quote.
