So much change is happening around Yonge-Dundas Square, including in the square itself, that I find that we need a unified thread. UrbanToronto did follow the construction of the square way back in 2000 but it appears to have been lost in one of the early forum moves.

May 18, 2009 · * Yonge-Dundas Square should have a name beyond its physical location descriptor. But despite having choices among all the famous Torontonians past and present, or anything even remotely tied to our history, they go with a word in a language that has very little to do with Toronto.
Jun 6, 2017 · The square looks incredibly dumpy - graffitied, spalling columns, chipped and cracked black granite slabs everywhere; dirty and rusting stage canopy, stained stainless fascia at the various booths. The whole things just reeks of decay - and the garbage "architecture" all around it just add to that special dumpiness.
Approved today by the City of Toronto's Executive Committee, a proposal by the Yonge-Dundas Square Board of Management (YDS-Board) in partnership with Outfront Media calls for a Sign By-law amendment to allow a 3.8 million private-sector initiative to re-make the Downtown square for the duration of a 10-year lease.

Sep 15, 2021 · The generally square subject site spans 54 through 74 Dundas Street East and 98-100 Bond Street, just south of Ryerson University’s main campus and east of Yonge-Dundas Square. It is currently occupied with four low-rise commercial buildings, including the Imperial Pub, retail, restaurants, offices, personal services, and a vacant former place of worship.
