    Step 1: See if you’re eligible

    1. You must be a victim, have a relationship with a victim, or be a Good Samaritan affected by a qualifying crime. 1.1. See if you’re eligible 2. You must apply within filing limitations: 2.1. Within 7 years of the crime, or 2.2. Within 7 years of the direct victim turning 21, or 2.3. Within 7 years of when the crime could have been discovered – whichever is later.

    1. To apply online: 1.1. Create a CalVCB Online account or login 1.2. Start a new application(in English or Spanish) 2. To apply by paper form: 2.1. File with help from a local victims advocate, or 2.2.     Don’t check too early. Applications can take 90 days to process. 1. If you applied online: 1.1. Login to CalVCB Online 1.1.1. You’ll find application status on the Applications tab 2.
