Native speaker here. I watch subbed anime all the time with my friends. The English localization of Ika Musume had a lot of fun with the squid puns. I found myself chuckling at parts that weren't quite jokes in the original because of how ridiculous (and sometimes clever) the puns (I love dropping "squidaddle" in casual conversation).

The Japanese in Anime is very unnatural, so if you're looking for content to help with listening/improving your Japanese, I recommend something more standard (television shows etc). If you've just started it may be better to use some targeted content which will help you get up to speed with key vocabulary and grammar.

Jokes aside the chinese voice acting is actually better on this one, i watched season 1 in like 3 dubs (because i'm dumb af and wanted more link click) so i watched it on chinese, japanese and spanish, the chinese audio was better than the other 2 ngl, the dubs where pretty good tho, they didn't misrepresent the characters, even more, i saw the english dub is also pretty good.
