The current G rating is useless because it's so hard to achieve, people bring the smallest of children to PG movies all the time. G could become current PG standards, PG could generally match current PG-13 standards, they could introduce a new level that captures most currently R-rated Oscar-bait stuff (multiple fucks, some nudity) and then keep R for severe violence etc.
