  2. Feb 24, 2017 · Yes. Your dot is to the west of the mansion but lined up with it now. So just head due east and you will eventually hit it. The dot moving just means you finally got close enough to one axis of the coordinates.

  6. North is not the only true way to point a map. In fact, historically, maps were generally made with east at the top, for the reasons pointed out in this thread, among others (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Map). Notch may be adding a bit of realism to the game and trying to fit the slight medieval flair of the game.

  7. Feb 3, 2017 · Maps are always orientated X left/right & Z up/down. Positive and Negative as assumed. No reason to change them and alter the standard for one particular map. Also you can move around a bit and track where your dot is moving to tell what means what.
