   The summoner A.I is extremely poor and they won't do ANYTHING underground. Above ground they're great, even with 2 minions. But going below ground is my bane so far. I played summoner in 1.4 vanilla, but it was never this bad. Yeah, id recomend using a magic/summon sideclass until youre in hardmode.

   I can confirm that that is not the case. It isn't. It is actually overall better tho. Only difference you will find is the fact that some minions have problems focusing fast-moving targets. Other than that, dps is probably the top 1 of all classes. It has the best dps in the whole game.

   Why do you like being a summoner?

   • While summons are mostly reliable, sometimes they don’t really do exactly what you want, so I also find a bit of fun trying to find a way to optimize their damage. I also enjoy collecting pets and stuff, and summons fight for me, so it feels pretty awesome being a summoner.
