Oh how did I forget! The Sun Spirit Staff and Frost Blossom Staff are both extremely useful underground. Both summons will stay on top of the players head, meaning they won’t get stuck, nor will they target enemies that are to far away. Also remember to right click to highlight an enemy for your summons to attack.
Calamity summoner is so much more fleshed out than the other classes, especially as calamity is still on 1.3.whatever, which doesn't provide nearly as much vanilla content as 1.4 (obviously). Also the weapons are, in my opinion, really fun to use and have really cool mechanics and sprites.
It is a bit of a meme in the community, but it's based in good logic. Summoner is the class that consistently deals the most damage in calamity, allowing you to stay away and focus on dodging while your buddies rip and tear or letting you get up close and whip your foes to maximise damage at a riskier range.
Aug 28, 2020 · Not really a surprise, but calamity probably does the most straightforward, unnecessary and overall useless "fixes", only exception being the increased aggro range of minions. Mechanically, the only thing Calamity changes is that you're forced to keep holding a summoner weapon in order for your summons to do their normal damage.
