Nov 1, 2024 · On Saturday, the home side Aurora Tigers fired three goals in the opening ten minutes past Dukes starter Noah Davis and the club never recovered in a 6-3 loss. Nolan Hendry scored his first goal as a Wellington Duke while Zach Mascard and Ethan Murray also lit the lamp for Wellington. The Comeback
On Friday, Wellington (12-11-3) was able to withstand a glut of Golden Hawk powerplay chances that titled the ice in favour of the hosts and emerge victorious 4-3 in double overtime. Then, on Monday, Wellington downed the division leaders 4-1 in their rink and gain a very valuable two points.
The win was Wellington’s third in a row. Despite sitting in the OJHL’s East Conference basement with seven wins, the Rangers played a tenacious brand of hockey and got some big saves from goalie Amir Valiullin to keep the game at zeroes for almost the whole first half of the game.
