One of his first roles was as a student in 1930's All Quiet on the Western Front. He was the only surviving member of either the cast or crew.
His wife of 60 years, Marcia Grant Gardner, passed away in 2002. Arthur is survived by his two sons Douglas and Steven, daughter-in-law Andrea, and grandchildren Chloe and Matthew.
