[ 2 ] [ 3 ] The film is an adaptation from the 2008 Irish language short film An Ranger , starring Owen McDonnell and written and directed by PJ Dillon and Pierce Ryan, who co-wrote the screenplay.

Granted, the historic dilemmas described in the film, which takes place in Western Ireland during the infamous Potato Famine, are real enough.
