From a user perspective, the "best" modloader is the one that your favourite mods run on. In general this tends to lead users to use Fabric for vanillaplus-like packs, and Forge for bigger, gameplay changing packs.

This mod loader allows the use of all mods present in this section, custom textures and custom parts, you don't need to install anything.
The Lazy DFU mod may help reduce loading time (use Dashloader for fabric). The Smooth Boot mod has some compatibility issues. I do not recommend using it unless its effects are clearly visible in your modpack.

Forge is large and sort of clunky. performance is not great. cross compatibility is fair but still relies on mod devs to be compatible with other mods. Fabric is lean, but that means that you have to add the API and library mods yourself (or rather, the modpack dev does).
