For Rural clinicians – US & CT tests in NRHA, IERHA, SHSS or PMH: Direct requisition to site of choice. For tests in Winnipeg: Central Intake. Note: after consultation with a radiologist, emergent requests must go to a specific site, not through Central Intake.
MRI machines are located in the Interlake-Eastern, Prairie Mountain Health, Southern Health-Santé Sud, and Winnipeg regional health authorities. Ask your health care provider where you are having your scan.
In Manitoba, you can have your tests done anywhere you would like. Your doctor may suggest a particular place, but you can go to a different location if it is more convenient for you. Just make sure to bring the requisition form your doctor provided to whatever facility you choose.
If a scan needs to be done immediately (within the next day or two) then the physician would mark off "emergent" and speak with a radiologist directly to arrange it. Scans marked as urgent without discussion with the radiologist may be a couple weeks or even well over a month depending on how it is triaged.
Diagnostic services can also be used to determine how well treatments are working, or to measure results over time. You may be able to have the test in the location of your choice. Talk to your doctor to see if this is an option for you.
* a physician can complete a WRHA Request for Consultation for DI Exam form and either faxing it to the Diagnostic Imaging Access Centre 204-787-8910 (central intake office for all requisitions for the shortest wait time) or directly to Seven Oaks General Hospital
