Jun 15, 2024 · Ancient Cities are a type of structure that generate within the Deep Dark. They're quite rare, so not every Deep Dark biome will contain an Ancient City. You won't really know you've come across an Ancient City until you're actually standing in it. Ancient Cities occupy massive, Sculk-lined caverns, and are composed primarily of Deepslate.
The deep dark is the only biome where ancient cities can generate. Other structures and features that can be found in the deep dark include monster rooms, strongholds, and amethyst geodes. Mineshafts and trial chambers never generate in a deep dark biome, although they may extend into one.

Similar to searching for Deep Dark, players are recommended to explore cave systems in areas where little to no water is present to find an Ancient City. Choice Overworld biomes to check would be hilly and mountainous regions far from a water source.
