The window treatment brackets are either screwed into the ‘ceiling’ of the window opening or sides. Installing window treatments as an inside mount gives your windows a clean, finished look, allows blinds or shades to be flush with the trim or wall, and doesn’t cover decorative molding.
- Select the desired style of blinds. When selecting new window blinds, consider which material, thickness, and mounting style would work best to complement and coordinate with the existing features in the room, like the window frame material, wall paneling, lighting style, and furniture.
- Measure the window frame to determine the size of blinds you need. Precise measuring is crucial if your blinds are to operate smoothly and block sunlight effectively.
- Attach the brackets. Before you begin installation, read your model’s specialized set of instructions on how to put blinds up and check that the hardware is included.

Oct 23, 2013 · I owned and operated a Budget Blinds franchise for two years. As long as you comfortable with the support provided with you mount, you should be fine. Cellular shades are so light. The proper way to install them would be to mount L-brackets up through the window frame header and then window brackets to install the blind to the L-brackets.
Place your bracket at the 1-¼ inch spot from step two and mark where your screws will go. Drill the holes. Line your bracket up with the holes from step 4 and screw the bracket into the wall. Repeat steps 2-5 for the right side of your window. Slide the top of your blinds into the brackets one side at a time.
