  4. Jun 10, 2021 · There's nothing to charge. They are being powered by the Smart Connector though. Question 2: The answer to question 1 was no, but I'll expand on this: The Apple Pencil 2 does not charge through the Smart Connector, nor is it powered through the Smart connector on any iPad.

Well there are smart connector components on eBay, but they appear to be from/for the iPad, not the magic keyboard. Doesn’t seem like there should be much involved in just providing power, just need the right pieces.

The Magic Keyboard has a USB-C connector in the spine of the keyboard - which is intended for connection to the iPad Power Adapter. Power is then delivered to the iPad, when connected to the Magic Keyboard, via the Smart Connector.

  8. Would be great for a wall-mounted iPad so there's no need for a charging cable. My understanding is that there's a long and costly approval process (as with any Made for iPhone accessory) so not too many 3rd party accessory makers.
