Oct 9, 2023 · I found that pedestrian entrance gates at NRG Stadium open 3.5 hours before kick-off, which is great for anyone who wants to walk into NRG Park and avoid any traffic with vehicle entrance gates 1. When attending a Houston Texans game, keep in mind that gates to NRG Stadium will open 2 hours prior to kickoff 2 .
Overall, it's a pretty commercial area - but yes, I'd walk it - even after dark. You can walk through the NRG parking lot to the corner crosswalk and cross over to the Crowne Plaza hotel - then the Quality Inn should be right behind it.
