Without the files synchronizing. The key is to copy/paste files from the iMac/Documents subfolder to the iCloud/Documents subfolder. This is easily done using Finder on the iMac.

Feb 28, 2018 · At the top of the documents window, click on On My Mac. Navigate to the Pages, Numbers, or Keynote file you'd like in iCloud. Open it. At the top, click on the title. You should now see a drop down that lets you choose where you'd like to save it, as well as an option to rename it. Just choose iCloud and change anything else you'd like.
