  1. First- "missed timing" is considered jargon on this sub, so we aren't allowed to use the term. That said, it's a "when... you can" effect, meaning that if it's summoned by card effect, it doesn't have the opportunity to activate its effect because the summon wasn't the last thing to happen and the effect is optional.

  2. "Missed timing for activation" is less prevalent now, but, cards with the 'when' condition need to occur first in the chain, so they resolve last. Means that for those specific effects you can't gain them if you use another effect first to try and gain said effect.

  3. Yeah, you have to activate in an open game state. Activating it in response to your opponent's effect will cause that effect to resolve afterwards and missed timing will occur.

Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity

•This card's Synchro materials can be generalised to "3 Tuners + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters". Therefore, an easy way to Synchro Summon this card involves using "Machine Duplication" to bring out two more of a Level 3 Machine Tuner monster with 500 or less ATK (such as "Black Salvo"). Summon it alongside a Level 3 non-Tuner enabler (such as "Marauding Captain", or a monster summoned by "Unexpected Dai" or "Emergency Teleport"). Synchro Summon "Muddy Mudragon" using the Level 3 non-Tuner and one of the Machines, then Synchro Summon this card using "Muddy Mudragon" and the other two Machines.

•"Ascator, Dawnwalker" can set up the Synchro Summon of a Level 8 DARK Dragon without using up your Normal Summon, thus freeing it up for "Junk Synchron" or "Deep Sea Diva" to Special Summon the other Tuner monster required to complete the Synchro material requirements for this card.

•When this card is destroyed, Special Summon "Samsara, Dragon of Rebirth" from your Graveyard, which can revive this card when it is destroyed in return.

•Use "Formula Synchron", "Accel Synchron" or "Synchro Transmission" to Summon this card during the opponent's turn and get an "additional" turn. Since another effect is used to Synchro Summon it, the summon cannot be negated, only the effect.

•The effect that performs the Synchro Summon must occur as Chain Link 1, otherwise this card's effect would miss the timing.

•This card can perform an OTK if it successfully attacks two Attack Position monsters in a turn via effects like "Tyrant Wing".

  4. "Missing the timing only occurs if the action that misses the timing (in this case the king calamity's on summon effect), is triggered by an action (the summon) that was not the last thing that happened on the last chain."

  6. When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can activate this effect; for the rest of this turn, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects on the field. Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to this effect's activation.
