General
Death messages 1. Two previously untranslated death messages for some underwater mobs have been given messages: 1.1. died from dehydration. 1.2. died from dehydration whilst trying to escape . Languages 1. Added Classical Chinese.[note 2] Enchanting 1. All enchantments are now capped at level 255 in both display and power.

Cauldrons 1. Powder snownow fills cauldrons twice as fast as before.

Axolotl 1. Blue axolotls now only spawn through breeding. Drowned 1. Increased the drop probability of a copper ingot from 5% to 11%, and increased the drop rate with each level of Looting from 1% to 2%. 1.1. This change is to match Bedrock Edition's drop rates. Mar 8, 2021 · There have been no changes made to the mob spawning algorithm in the 1.17 cave update. This means that the singleplayer mob cap of 70 is expected to distribute across the surface and 128 blocks of caves. Additionally, mobs prefer to spawn more in the lower parts of the world.
Axolotl. Glow Squid. Goat. Glow squids where the winners of the 2020 mob vote, and were added to the new terrain generation deep under ground. Goats were the opposite being added to higher parts of the world such as mountain tops. Understandably Axolotls where somewhere in the middle in oceans.
