Dec 18, 2002 · Posted December 21, 2002. Although the Numeric Keypad connected to the Atari computer's joystick ports, I don't believe that it is compatable with the keyboard controllers (since it required a special driver file to work).

May 22, 2021 · A keyboard control that works better than your gamepad might still not be as good as a proper joystick, but personal preference based on how your reflexes are trained for each controller will also be a factor.
Star Raiders is probably the only notable one of these games, but there are better versions on other systems. Incidentally, the Star Raiders keypad can be substituted for the standard keypad controller, they are interchangeable. I recently purchased some keyboard controllers from eBay CIB.

From reading through the threads on Atariage: Doesn't work with keyboard controllers (no Star Raiders, Synthcart, Kids Controller games, etc.), doesn't work with trackballs in trackball mode, doesn't work with Pitfall II or Supercharger games, and many homebrews don't work.
