There are glow-worms in the Main Garden, from the Duck Pond up to Glen Road alongside Pukatea Stream. They can only be seen at night; the best time to spot them is in spring, after rain. Guided glow-worm tours are available at various times throughout the year.
You don’t have to venture in too far to see a huge cave full of glow worms, as the walls come down to meet you, you can be at eye level and inches away from them. We didn’t go very far and the roof came right down and it would be a low shuffle to get in.

The quickest way to find the glow worms is to enter the Botanic Gardens through the Dell entrance in Kelburn. They are sprinkled along the path that leads downhill, eventually passing the duck pond to go to the main gate on Tinakori Rd.
