It’s been nearly a year, but after lots of modeling, testing, and iterating we found 12 core factors that contribute to high levels of energizing behaviors.

    • Control your stress. Stress can be a debilitating condition associated with emotional and physical tension, and anxiety. In order to bring your fun-loving side up, try to reduce or eliminate stress in your life.
    • Find an activity that makes you happy. Try to find an activity that makes you happy and excited. This is especially important if you feel that you are not fun-loving because you never do anything that is fun or brings you joy.
    • Engage in regular exercise. Exercise helps improve your overall health, makes you stronger, and makes your body work more efficiently. All these combined will make you more energetic.
    • Eat a healthy diet. Our bodies need fuel for energy; that fuel is food. Build your diet around healthy, non-processed foods that provide all the necessary nutrients and help raise your energy levels.
    • We attract who we are. The more positive energy we give off, the more we’ll receive. Ditto for negativity. It works like this: Love attracts love.
    • Intuition clarifies smart choices. Relationships are tricky; they can be a big blur even when your eyes are open. We’ve learned to draw conclusions from surface data: how nice someone seems, looks or is educated, or how a situation adds up on paper.
    • Seeing the best in people magnetizes them. Instead of reflexively accentuating the worst in a person or situation, choose to energize positive qualities.
    • Soulful giving generates abundance. Giving is supposed to feel good; if not, something’s wrong. Soulful giving enlarges your capacity to be more caring – you give for the joy of it, expecting nothing in return.
    • They do meaningful work. Lately, we've been hearing more and more folks talk about this concept of meaningful work. Newsflash: This is nothing new. People have been asking questions about the meaning of life since Aristotle's era.
    • They get enough sleep. Sleep screws you up in so many ways, I could write an entire article about it. You know how important sleep is; I don't have to tell you.
    • They take specific periods of rest and renewal. In their book, "The Power of Full Engagement," authors Tony Schwartz and Jim Loehr describe a study they conducted in which they noted the difference between the best athletes in the world versus the rest.
    • They do what it takes to stay fully charged. When I interviewed best-selling author, Tom Rath, about his book, "Are You Fully Charged?" he told me there are three keys to energizing your work and life
