Hypertrophy is an increase or broadening of the muscle due to vigorous activity or exercise.It is palpable by an enlargement of the muscle fibers. Flaccid muscles diminish in breadth due to a lack of muscle activity or exercise. They palpate as being very relaxed or without normal muscle tone.
