Dumbledore is biased to the Gryffindors. I believe he had a soft spot for James and his friends, just as he had one for Harry and his friends. Should Sirius have been punished? Absolutely. Did Dumbledore nor punish him out of malice towards young Snape? I don't think so.

Sep 18, 2023 · None of this is to say that Dumbledore is willfully evil, like Voldemort or even Grindelwald — but he can definitely be a bit on the arrogant side.
