Dec 17, 2014 · What we do with our resources Is a common theme within Jesus ministries, it is often quoted that Jesus spent more time talking about money than He did Heaven and Hell combined, that He talked about money more than any other subject but the kingdom of God, that 11 out of His 39 parables talk about money, and that 1 out of every 7 versus in the Gospel of Luke talk about money; yet throughout all ...
When Did The Church Start Tithing Money Instead Of Objects. Tithing is a more nuanced doctrine than one may realize. It is important to keep in mind three things when seeking to understand the biblical concept of tithing: 1) “God loves a cheerful giver” –2 Corinthians 9:7 2) Believers are not commanded to pay tithes because God needs our money 3) Biblical stewardship is more about ...

Before we go to the human life of Jesus Christ (Yahshua the Messiah), we need to see what He thinks about tithing in the Old Testament. Let’s read Genesis 14:18-20: It is worth noting that the first mention of tithing in the Bible is in the incident where Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek. As you can see, this proves something that most people wou...
Now, let’s go to the New Testament. There’s one situation in Jesus’ life when He was reprimanding the Pharisees about their hypocrisy. The story is found in Matthew 23. But in verse 23, we read: In this verse, we could read how Christ was telling the scribes and Pharisees that they should have not neglected justice, mercy, and faith or the weightie...
One of the most common arguments people use against tithing is Matthew 17:24-27. However, does Matthew 17:24-27proves Jesus didn’t pay tithe? Let’s read this passage first: By reading this verse, some concluded that Peter worked by fishing. Since Peter was fishing and he got a piece of money or gold coin in the fish’s mouth, people concluded that h...
Jesus was a carpenter and they have a family business. In truth, Jesus had spent moreyears being a businessman compared to his 3 1/2 years of ministry. That’s something interesting to take note of. In those years, it is not difficult to imagine that Jesus set aside tithe. So, when He finally needed to start His ministry, He has money to spend. He d...
As we have seen, Jesus Christ (Yahshua the Messiah) taught that we should still tithe in this modern world. Remember, God owns everything and those who follow His commands are given a sure promise that they will also be blessed. You can be part of the most important work on the face of the earth – the preaching of the Gospel – through your tithe an...
Aug 19, 2024 · Jesus criticized the Pharisees (Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42 not because they tithed but because they paid close attention to the details of God's law (e.g., tithing) while avoiding its deeper ...
- Believers are no longer under the Mosaic covenant (Rom. 6:14–15; 7:5–6; Gal. 3:15–4:7; 2 Cor. 3:4–18). The commands stipulated in the Mosaic covenant are no longer in force for believers.
- The examples of Abraham and Jacob are not normative patterns. Some think tithing is required because both Abraham and Jacob gave a tenth, and they both lived before the Mosaic covenant was in place.
- Tithes were given to the Levites and priests, but there are no Levites and priests in the new covenant. Levites and priests were tied to the sacrificial system of the old covenant.
- The tithe is tied to the land Israel received under the old covenant. Israel was supposed to celebrate a tithe every three years in Jerusalem. But that requirement cannot apply to Christians today.
that tithing only existed to support the Levitical Priesthood so therefore when the Levitical Priesthood went away then of course tithing did as well. The problem with this is that it can be proven from the Bible that tithing was in effect hundreds of years before there even was a Levitical Priesthood.

Aug 11, 2022 · Many Christians struggle with the issue of tithing. In some churches giving is over-emphasized. At the same time, many Christians refuse to submit to the biblical exhortations about making offerings to the Lord. Tithing/giving is intended to be a joy and a blessing. Sadly, that is sometimes not the case in the church today.
